Guess what happened to me (again!) yesterday?

That's right, I got cutoff while driving on the highway in almost the exact same spot as I did the day before.

  1. One thing I have to ask.
When you drive along 6th ave do you consider the traffic that's joining 6th from Wadsworth Or Federal who have to enter the traffic with a short acceleration lane.
Do you ever make effort to move into the middle or outer lane to give them a space to move into?

    1. Absolutely! I enter onto 6th avenue at Wadsworth and sometimes Kipling. In fact I had a run-in with a women driving a white Prius about 2 1/2 - 3 years ago where I actually filled a police report. She was exiting as I was trying to enter. She pulled along side of me and as I sped up and slowed down, she matched my speed almost running me off the road.

My opinion about that lane is that if you are currently in the left most lane you have a responsibility to be aware of people trying to enter onto 6th avenue. That doesn't mean slamming on the brakes for people, but it does mean that you shouldn't be going 65 miles an hour in that lane.

Because I enter onto 6th avenue almost every morning and encounter this kind of driving incompetence, I do make an effort to move over whenever I am driving in those lanes and am passing these entrances.
